Sanford Pride Elementary School is seeking a long-term substitute to teach Gr PK-4 General Music. The successful candidate will begin on or around April 28th, and remain through the end of the school year.Sanford Pride is a PreK - Grade 4 school located in the heart of Sanford, Maine. In addition to district curriculum and programs, our school has a service dog program that serves all students and adults. Our community also has a greenhouse and an outdoor classroom. We believe these resources provide students with real-world opportunities such as being good stewards of their community.Essential FunctionsWill provide music instruction for classes ranging from Pre-K through 4th grade, including three adaptive groups. Teacher-created lesson plans will be left as a resource for the substitute.Organize and maintain music classroom, ensuring student safety and proper care of instruments/materials.Interact positively and enthusiastically with students while also maintaining successful classroom management.Actively participate as part of the SPE team; collaborate with other teachers, learn building procedures, and complete duties as assigned.Communicate with colleagues and administrators as needed for support.Technology skills, such as using an iPad, navigating Google Slides on a Promethean board, and connecting to bluetooth devices will be helpful in the substitute’s success.Additional DutiesOptional: Grade 4 Chorus instruction, which happens during the school day.Optional: Co-advising Drama Club, which meets after school on Tuesdays.Qualifications:Preferred: Maine State Certification 614 (PK-12 Music), or meets eligibility to attain.Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.Teaching experience (could include student teaching).Musical experience preferred.
