You will work through tough times and challenges together, knowing that the ultimate outcome is guiding them to live a fulfilled and independent life.Advocating for a young person's sense of belonging while encouraging their independence is a deeply rewarding career path.Travel around the Burpengary and Caboolture region will be essential for this role.This role is for full-time employment and requires availability across 7 days. We currently have a roster consisting of 5 x 24 hour shifts per fortnight including sleep overs.Key responsibilities include:Building rapport and trust with young people, acting as a role model with residential house duties.Navigate through their personal challenges, providing both emotional & professional support in collaboration with the team of Youth Workers, Case Managers, and other relevant community services.Help engage in post-crisis support functions to better support young people with complex needs and behaviours.How We Support YouSafe Places for Children offers a comprehensive induction program that encompasses classroom, online and on-the-job training. The induction program is designed to provide qualified Youth Workers with a solid understanding of a 'day in the life' of a Youth Worker at Safe Places as well as the skills, knowledge, and practice, to work within our Integrated Practice Framework.Due to the trauma sensitive work of our Youth Workers, we require our inductee Youth Workers to successfully complete the Induction Program before they can be assigned to a young person. As such, employment offers are made on a casual basis and following the successful completion of the Induction Program, permanent, full-time offers are made. Candidates will need to be available to attend the Induction Program which will take approximately 3 weeks.About YouTo be successful in this role you will need to have:Hold a Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (or hold recognized qualifications)Have transferable skills and be willing to enrol into a Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family InterventionCurrent Blue Card (Working with Children Check)Hold and maintain a full Australian Drivers LicenceDemonstrated ability to openly engage and build trust with young people from diverse backgroundsImplement strategies and tactics to mentor and teach our youth necessary life skillsMaintain a level of grit and resilience to overcome challenges that are confrontingAbility to work under pressure and deliver results
