Senior Technical Officer (Screen and Media)$81,614 to $90,691 pa (HEW 5) pro-rataOpen to candidates with relevant work rightsSCHOOL OF ARTS AND HUMANITIES$81,614 to $90,691 pa PRO-RATA (HEW 5) PLUS 17% SUPERANNUATIONONGOING, PART-TIME 60%MOUNT LAWLEY /CITY CAMPUSOVERVIEWThe Specialist Technical Services Team within the School of Arts & Humanities delivers specialised technical support to students and staff, with a focus on providing a safe, effective, customer-focused service that ensures compliance with relevant Work, Health and Safety regulations and aligns with both school and university strategic and operational goals.THE OPPORTUNITYAs the Senior Technical Officer, reporting to the Senior Team Leader, Specialist Technical Services, you will:Work proactively and collaboratively within the Specialist Technical Services Team to provide high-quality technical support to the staff and students within the School of Arts and Humanities.Ensure that the work environment and learning spaces are clean, functional, healthy and safe.Liaise with staff and students to ensure safe and equitable access to facilities, equipment and materials as required.Provide technical advice and instruction to students, and assist with demonstrating the use of various equipment, techniques, processes, materials, and skills related to the students’ learning.Develop, implement and maintain specialist technical documentation resources as required to support teaching and learning, facility and equipment maintenance, and safe work practices.Contribute to the continuous improvement of services to the school and its staff through active participation in process review initiatives, planning activities, the sharing of relevant and applicable knowledge, professional development activities, and the training and mentoring of new staff.Compliance with ECU policies and practices in all aspects of their work and conduct; and ensure the safety and wellbeing of themselves and others by complying with WH&S and EO requirements.THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATERelevant tertiary qualification in screen production or broadcasting, or equivalent expertise gained through experience, training, or professional accreditation.At least two years' experience maintaining, supporting, and operating screen production and broadcast facilities in educational and industry settings.Experience using diagnostic tools to fault-find audio-visual equipment and performing basic electronic repairs (e.g., soldering, crimping, re-terminating cables).Proficiency in supporting LED walls and associated technologies in screen production or broadcasting contexts.At least two years' experience operating and supporting Digital Cinema Cameras, Broadcast Cameras, and related equipment.Familiarity with Non-Linear Editing software packages and postproduction supervision, including delivering DCPs for cinema screenings.Experience administering a NAS or ‘Edit Server’ in a screen or broadcast production environment.Ability to read, create, and maintain technical documentation (e.g., wiring diagrams, block diagrams, schematics) to identify and resolve faults in screen or broadcast production.Experience providing in-class support and technical instruction across both broadcasting and screen production areas and mentoring on set in a postgraduate course.Key Attributes:A team player with strong interpersonal skills, enjoying collaboration with staff and students in an educational environment.Excellent organisational, time management, and task prioritisation abilities.Outstanding customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.Interest in exploring and integrating emerging technologies to enhance staff and student experiences.Ability to interpret complex technical information for non-experts in an easily understandable manner.Alignment with the University’s values of Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry, Courage, and Personal Excellence, with a strong focus on WH&S.ABOUT THE SCHOOLThe School of Arts and Humanities (SAH) is one of the largest at ECU with many diverse academic disciplines arranged into three main clusters: Creative Humanities; Psychology, Counselling, and Criminology; and Social Sciences, Social Work, and Youth Work.
