Opportunity snapshot: An exciting, Independent Day Rate Contracting opportunity has become available for a Lead Data Engineer. In this role, our Lead Data Engineers are critical in providing thought leadership for a team of engineers and working with our customers across discovery of features, technical design, data modelling, delivery of integration and acceptance testing and post implementation defect resolution, with a focus on broad skillsets across all of these areas. In addition, our Lead Data Engineer is expected to have strong working knowledge across Operational Data and Analytics, Data Warehouse and BI, Advanced Analytics and Analytical Self-service. The Lead Data Engineer designs and delivers solutions aligned to our various Data Services across a range of technologies. They also play an important contributing role in driving uplift of the engineering craft and communities of practices for Standards and guidelines and continuous improvement of our engineering practices towards existing and emerging industry frameworks and norms. As a senior member of the team, you are expected to provide technical mentorship to other team members, lead workshops, coach squads/team on engineering practices, and play a role in Engineering governance aspects. How will I help? Support our Heads of Engineering, Product Management Team and Business Leaders in providing thought leadership and consulting with business stakeholders around the use of data and data technology. Work directly with our Product Management Team in detailing technical aspects of Epics, Features, and Stories, that technical deliver teams can understand and build from. Lead and produce estimation of effort for the delivery of features and stories. Lead team level design Lead the development of working prototypes to prove or disprove a working hypothesis on how to meet a customers needs What do I need? Educated to minimum of degree level in engineering, computer science or related technology discipline (desirable) 5 to 10 years' recent experience as a software or data engineer, with demonstrated ability to deliver Azure/AWS/GCP certifications(s) or equivalent (desirable) Cloud Data Lakehouse/Warehouse Skills – either in Snowflake or Databricks Advanced CI/CD experience Advanced engineering practices Strong knowledge of Agile frameworks, with SAFe certification favoured Strong stakeholder management skills About us: Bupa has a strategic goal of being the most customer-centric digital healthcare organisation, with the use of data as an explicit pillar of this strategy.
