This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced forester to join the Forest Management section of ACT Parks and Conservation Service in a temporary position until 31 March 2026. We're a small team within the Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development (EPSDD) Environment, Heritage and Parks (EHP) Division of EPSDD who are passionate about social, environmental and economic benefits of sustainable forest management to the Canberra community. We plan and deliver commercial forestry operations across 8,500 planted hectares of softwood and are closely involved in bushfire mitigation activities in the ACT. Working under limited direction of the Director, Forest Management, your role will primarily be to: Manage multiple components of the softwood forestry program in the ACT Prepare tender and procurement documents and manage detailed contract specifications Formulate professional policy and technical advice for senior management on operational programs Supervise and mentor other professional, technical and field staff to ensure high quality outcomes and skills development Lead the Forest Management team in a broad range of activities across the plantation crop rotation from planting to harvest. Eligibility/Other Requirements: A suitable degree in forestry or a related field is mandatory.
