Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.
Job Description
We are seeking a Technical Expeditor to join the Engineering & Maintenance team at Moranbah North Mine on a full-time, permanent basis with Anglo American. Reporting to the Engineering Superintendent, the Technical Expeditor provides Project Management support to the Engineering & Maintenance department to assist in driving the delivery of the mine’s performance targets by ensuring overhauled/repaired equipment is returned fit for purpose to meet the business plan.
The core responsibilities of the role are, not limited to:
* Provide safe, efficient and reliable technical expediting services to the Maintenance & Engineering Department and assist in achieving agreed maintenance plans and targets.
* Establish fit-for-purpose standards, systems and strategies to optimise the management of equipment overhauls.
* Assist in the management of equipment overhauls by having input into formulating a feasibility project budget and preparing a detailed scope of work.
* Monitor the planning, scheduling and execution of overhauls/repairables including the collection and recording of information.
* In consultation with the relevant supervisors and team members, manage the assembly and commissioning of the equipment at contractor’s facilities.
* Ensure that all legal and Anglo American Coal standards are maintained for maintenance plant and equipment at the mine.
* Seek to improve performance through engineering enhancements.
* Ensure that statutory maintenance overhauls are carried out to the required standard in a timely and cost-effective manner.
* Assist in the development of maintenance engineering strategies and plans.
* Hold regular meetings with the contractors to understand progress and roadblocks in meeting the plan.
* Personally exhibit an uncompromising stand on safety standards and appropriate risk management.
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualification in Engineering or a relevant trade combined with practical experience.
* Demonstrated experience in a similar role in the Resources sector (preferably underground coal equipment).
* Hold the Supervisor and Risk Management qualifications (S1, S2, S3 & G2).
* Knowledge of the QLD Coal Mining Legislation and Coal Mining practices.
* Demonstrated ability in all aspects of Project Management.
* Track record in driving continuous improvement.
* Strong track record with engaging with stakeholders across multiple sites and workstreams.
