About Us: Through the collaborative development of program logic and action plans, IC&E ensures that program funding is used effectively to deliver government priorities and achieve outcomes outlined in the Department of Education's Equity and Excellence: Realising the potential of every student strategy.
IC&E builds the evidence base of what works to improve education outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students by undertaking research and evaluation and trialling new approaches.
This evidence is used across the Department of Education to inform the commissioning of effective programs and services.
IC&E also plays a role in administering funding to schools and organisations for the delivery of initiatives that assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to be enrolled, engaged and achieving in school to the same extent as non-Indigenous students.
Your Role: Responsibilities include: Participate in project teams involved in the formulation, implementation and evaluation of innovative and workable policy options and solutions.
Coordinate and undertake extensive research and assess strategic and policy initiatives occurring at state, national and international levels that have implications for First Nations children and young people in the early childhood education, school education and tertiary education sectors.
Provide strategic advice to the Minister, the Director-General and senior officers of the department.
Coordinate and prepare Cabinet submissions, policy responses, briefings, speaking notes and other documents.
Establish networks and liaise with senior officers and representatives in a range of government and non-government agencies on policy implications of submissions to the Minister, the Director-General and senior officers of the department.
Develop program logics to underpin the design, monitoring and evaluation of policy and program initiatives.
Contribute to the review and revision of policies and programs to drive continuous improvement and the realisation of strategic objectives.
Represent the department in a variety of forums.
Foster a challenging, equitable, ethical and safe work environment for project staff, which encourages commitment, skills development, professional growth and continuous improvement.
Other suitable duties, consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the position as directed by the supervisor or nominated delegate.
