Our people are at the heart of our Bank, and we care about them deeply. The People and Culture division delivers meaningful work in support of our group strategy, with a focus on enriching the employee experience and helping our people to thrive at the Bank.
Within the People and Culture division, our Employee Relations (ER) team provide specialist employee relations advice to the business. As trusted advisors, the ER team ensure that employment related legislation and regulatory obligations are met. The team also manage our industrial arrangements to ensure commerciality and compliance.
We currently have a short-term contract opportunity for someone to come on board as Senior Manager ER to focus on Strategy and Projects through until the end of June 2025. Working across the organisation, you’ll support senior leaders and managers with compliance in our pay-related systems and processes.
In this strategic and visible role, you’ll get to advise and provide strategic project delivery of ER initiatives including:
1. Pay compliance matters, in connection with workplace law, enterprise agreements, and modern awards
2. Specialist ER advice to pay compliance and payroll governance activities, and (if need is identified) remediation
3. Contractual interpretation issues
4. Drafting and resolution of complex queries related to People and Culture policies and procedures
5. Leave entitlements and conditions
6. Implementation of a consequence management framework in alignment with the Bank’s Code of Conduct, Consequence Management Policy and other policies

This role can be based in any one of our office locations in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Bendigo, or Adelaide. What you’ll bring to the role
7. Tertiary qualification in either Human Resource Management, Employee Relations, or related discipline is desirable
8. Demonstrated high performance and proven experience in a senior role in Employee Relations/HR
9. Deep knowledge and understanding of relevant workplace law, modern awards, and enterprise agreements
10. Ability to interpret employment contracts and policies, managing ambiguity effectively
11. Demonstrated capabilities with advocacy and negotiation
12. Excellent stakeholder relationship and influencing skills up to executive level
13. Proven capability to coach and mentor all levels of employees, people leaders, and executives regarding employee and industrial relations
