We have an opportunity for a Control Room Operator to join our team in Gladstone. You would be based at our Fisherman's Landing site, the largest integrated cement plant in Australia.
As a Control Room Operator, you will monitor, adjust and record the site's central control system, ensuring safe and uninterrupted operation of the plant. You will play a key role in helping the site team to achieve production targets, compliance and product quality, maximising operational efficiency.
You will be a pivotal part of a safety culture, leading from the front and driving continuous improvement which includes taking part in training, work instruction development and challenging the status quo in a positive manner.
This is a shift position on a 12-hour rotating roster working collaboratively within a shift team.
About the role: As a Control Room Operator (internally known as Production Process Operator) you will:
Monitor the central control room systems for all major process lines including equipment commissioning, startups, shutdowns and emergency condition management. Maintain continual observation of all operation condition indications and trends; responding with appropriate action to achieve optimum outputs and process stability. Continuously monitor plant process lines using available tools to ensure employee safety, stable equipment operation, equipment integrity within prescribed design limitations, operating targets and environmental regulations. Control product quality at all stages of the cement manufacturing process by having a clear understanding of the targets and the levers that are used to control the targets. Coordinate with Production Process Operators and Shift Team Leaders to ensure effective running of the plant. Act on the control system alarms and escalate to plant resources to troubleshoot, inspect and maintain plant equipment as required. Maintain awareness of the automation system control strategy and make recommendations for continuous improvement. Monitor and maintain emissions levels below baseline compliance levels. Periodically inspect equipment data and report potential/actual breakdowns to the Maintenance team. Manipulate controls to maintain optimum production rates and to prevent equipment damage. Operate production mobile and fixed plant equipment as required. Perform general housekeeping activities as needed. About you: To be eligible for this role you will have:
Minimum 3 years previous experience as Control Room Operator / CCR in cement manufacturing process. Minimum 3 years' experience working in the cement industry. Certificate level qualifications or higher in a related area are preferred. Working knowledge of all available production tools including operating procedures, DCS and SCADA systems. The ability to use critical thinking and sound judgement in quick decision making. Complex problem-solving skills, demonstrated through success in a central control room. The ability to work well under pressure and maintain quality decision-making skills. An elevated level of computer literacy skills and ability to operate job related systems.
