Initial 6-month contract R&D project Perth based NES Fircroft has partnered with a company in the renewable energy sector, currently in the middle of a research and development project for a battery electric train. The ideal candidate will either come from an automotive background and have experience working on batteries from an HV point of view.
Your role: Primarily responsible for systems engineering and supporting hardware/software development of High Voltage (HV) battery systems for series projects Concept feasibility study for best-fit selection in projects for future products, involving battery pack system and sub-systems research Responsible for system specification book and definition of system functions/features Creation of system DVP&R to validate features/functions at system-level Lead troubleshooting of hardware/software issues for system releases Lead system integration, into vehicle powertrain, of high voltage battery packs during project lifecycle Support and implement Quality engineering processes (system-/D-FMEA, ISO 26262, cybersecurity, field and development issue resolution) Resolution of technical and design issues, along with system release of technical drawings and production documentation Understand and evaluate mechanical, electrical and electronic sub-components' performance, durability and reliability at the system-level Ensure compliance to the project management process by project owners to ensure all quality gates and SOP timelines are met Bench-marking and monitoring latest standardization and technology trends in the market to create component roadmaps Liaising with a range of key stakeholders on all technical aspects of projects Providing regular updates to the Principal including work progress, risks and priorities About you: Bachelor's degree (Master's or PhD preferred) in Electrical / Electronic / Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field of study 5+ years of relevant experience in HV-battery systems (systems engineering, testing and release preferable) Deep knowledge of Lithium-ion battery systems Knowledge in hardware/software design of Electric Vehicle (EV) systems/components (Proven training/experience in automotive HV-safety and ISO26262 Experience with EV system architectures, automotive ECUs and control systems Proficient in requirements and project management tools (Eg. DOORS, Confluence, JIRA etc.) Strong knowledge of automotive software analysis tools (Eg.
