About the role
As a forecasting specialist you will be required to provide a high level of coordination of resources and priorities within the team, while proactively working to document and improve the team’s processes and tools to support the ongoing evolution of AEMO’s forecasts. You will lead the development and delivery of high quality medium-long term integrated energy projects and publications (across electricity and gas markets) for AEMO's stakeholders, demonstrating expertise in application of technical and regulatory knowledge, interpreting data to provide strategic insights, managing internal and external stakeholder expectations and writing at a 'ready for publication' level of quality. What you will be doing Using your detailed industry knowledge and forecasting experience, identify improvement needs and develop recommendations for technical and non-technical improvements to systems, models, reports and processes in order to improve the accuracy and relevance of Forecasting insights and meet stakeholder objectives Conduct studies to resolve complex technical and commercial issues, with and without precedents. Instruct, assign and review the quality of work undertaken Develop and implement strategic actions/initiatives within the stream that support the divisional strategic plan Effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders to provide expert advice on energy system issues, influence decision making processes and maintain currency of information Play a lead role in Forecasting’s public reports and consultations What you will bring to the role Education Relevant tertiary qualification (mathematics, economics, operations research, engineering, physics etc) Experience and Knowledge Significant experience in forecasting energy consumption and demand, including gas and electricity use, and emerging sectoral influences and effects of decarbonisation Experience in leading the development of reports or publications in the analysis of future gas and electricity forecasting load transformational changes, including the costs, benefits and drivers of change impacting the energy industry, and interpretation of analysis performed by others Confident communicating complex analytical insights to a broad audience, including senior management and other internal and external stakeholders Robust knowledge or experience in the regulatory and investment framework for Australian energy markets, and an understanding of economic assessment techniques and power system reliability assessments In return some of our benefits to you Flexible working: work from home, part time, job share, hybrid options, and additional leave options Professional development via projects, industry networks, job rotation, study assistance and more.
