Two CIMIC Group companies, UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Transgrid to deliver the 130km western section of the HumeLink high voltage electricity transmission project.
HumeLink is a new 500kV transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW that will significantly increase the capacity of the electricity network in Australia's eastern states.
HumeLink is one of Australia's largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365kms of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure.
The HumeLink West scope of works, worth $1.4bn, includes delivery of new 500kV double circuit transmission lines spanning ~140kms from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.
The Opportunity The Site Engineer is responsible for managing construction related projects on site, ensuring they are completed safely, efficiently, and according to design specifications.
Please note this role will initially be based in Sydney, with transition into a site delivery role requiring DIDO/FIFO or relocation where additional allowances will apply.
Key Accountabilities · Ensuring the project is executed according to design specifications, timelines, and quality standards while minimising delays and errors.
· Overseeing daily site activities, including workforce supervision, resource allocation, and coordination with subcontractors and suppliers.
· Monitoring work to ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and project quality requirements, addressing any issues promptly.
· Acting as a point of contact between clients, project managers, contractors, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth communication and resolve conflicts.
· Maintaining health, safety and environmental standards to ensure a safe and sustainable work environment.
About You · A degree in engineering (i.e civil, electrical mechanical or structural) or equivalent experience.
· Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.· Proven experience working on construction or infrastructure projects.· Ability to manage and supervise site operations, subcontractors and labour effectively.
· Excellent written and verbal communication and confident ability to liase with stakeholders across multiple teams.
The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencement.
