Paediatric Rheumatology This position works across The Sydney Children's Hospitals Network - The Children's Hospital at Westmead and Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick Employment Type : Temporary Remuneration : Public Hospital Medical Officers (State) Award Hours Per Week : 38 Requisition ID : CAM22246 Advanced Trainee positions in Paediatric Rheumatology are available for the 2025 Clinical Year, with one position available from 03 February 2025 to 01 February 2026 and one position available from 03 February 2025 to 30 June 2025. The primary role of the Advanced Trainee in Paediatric Rheumatology is provision of care for patients and families in both inpatient and outpatient settings, at a level of skill and autonomy consistent with Advanced Training. The role includes initial assessment of children, rational use of investigations, ongoing management and monitoring progress, and organising timely discharge and appropriate follow up. The Advanced Trainee is a senior member of the Junior Medical Staff within a clinical team. In matters relating directly to patient care, the Trainee is responsible to the Specialist in charge of the patient’s care. The Trainee is responsible for supervision and teaching of Junior Medical Staff on their clinical team, including medical students. The Trainee is a role model for Junior Medical Staff in relation to professional conduct, clinical acumen and communication with patients, families and colleagues (including health professionals and other staff working in hospital and outpatient settings). The Trainee will be required to work normal hours, as appropriate for the particular clinical service; this may include shift work. The Trainee will also be required to work reasonable rostered overtime hours as required by the clinical service; this includes being available for patient handover and on-call duties in accordance with Public Health Medical Officers (State) Award. As this is a position is across The Sydney Children's Hospitals Network, the Trainee will be required to work across Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick, and The Children's Hospital at Westmead, and may also be asked to attend regional or metropolitan outreach clinics from time to time. Selection Criteria: MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category. Registered with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians as an Advanced Trainee or equivalent with at least 6 months recent experience in Rheumatology or an allied subspecialty such as Allergy and Immunology preferable. Ongoing commitment to further education and professional development.
