McArthur is seeking for a qualified and experienced Business Intelligence (BI) Developer and Analyst to contribute to the outcomes of the Data Analytics team.

The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (Commission) leads and coordinates national improvements in healthcare safety and quality. It works in partnership with patients, carers, clinicians, the Australian, state and territory health systems, the private sector, managers and healthcare organisations to achieve a safe, high-quality and sustainable health system
About the role
The role will contribute to the work of the Data Analytics team, with a focus on:
4. development of technical solutions;
5. identifying and developing appropriate data sources; and
6. provision of strategic oversight to data usage within the Commission.
Position Duties and responsibilities
7. Develop interactive dashboards, applications and extensions using Qlik Sense and similar data software packages
8. Lead the development to share safety and quality dashboards, via the Health Data Portal, to states/territories and health service organisations
9. Undertake analysis and preparation of information for the use in a range of safety and quality indicators and improvement strategies
10. Conduct analyses and contribute to the interpretation of safety and quality health data, using a range of data sources
11. Promote and contribute to the development of technical solutions to support and optimise the delivery of integrated safety and quality data and mechanisms
12. Identify issues and caveats relating to data sources and analytical methods
13. Contribute to committee meetings, forums and workshops.
14. Undertake other duties as required.
Skills and Knowledge required
15. Highly developed technical expertise and experience using Qlik Sense (5 years ) and similar data software packages
16. Technical expertise in developing interactive dashboards, applications, extensions and web mashups.
17. Experience with data systems, metadata, data extraction and analysis
18. Experience and understanding of a range of health datasets
19. Advanced computer skills required to manipulate and analyse large amounts of data using software such as SQL, with knowledge of Teradata database structures
20. Ability to work with multiple teams and take directions where required
21. Ability to communicate in plain English with the Commission and external stakeholders/expert subject matter experts
22. Knowledge and understanding of the issues and challenges associated with the use of health care data to monitor and drive improvements in safety and quality
Qualifications and experience
23. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant area
24. Knowledge and of the Australian healthcare system from a data and technical point of view, would be advantageous
25. Experience in developing productive working relations with a wide variety of stakeholders including Commission staff, subject matter experts and technical specialists
