The Role:
We are looking for an ambitious and target-driven Assistant Director to join a dynamic and fast-growing Sales and Business Development team in Sydney, Australia. This role will be split between new business acquisition and managing existing client relationships, with a focus on driving growth across the financial services sector. You will work autonomously while collaborating with internal teams to ensure client satisfaction and business success.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the sales cycle for new business, including identifying and prospecting potential clients.
* Leverage existing relationships to generate commercial interest and create value propositions tailored to clients' needs.
* Manage sales activities across key financial services verticals such as Corporate Finance, M&A, Investment Research, Private Equity, Asset Management, and Compliance.
* Negotiate and close high-value, complex agreements with senior stakeholders (e.g., COOs, CIOs, CROs).
* Manage and develop relationships with existing clients, ensuring satisfaction and identifying opportunities for cross-selling and upselling additional services.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts to deliver the best solutions for clients.
* Provide accurate forecasts, track sales pipelines, and meet revenue targets.
* Occasionally travel for client meetings and business development activities (subject to restrictions).
Qualifications:
* A degree in Finance, Economics, Business or relevant field.
* 5-7 years of experience in a client-facing role within the financial services sector (preferably Investment Banking, Private Equity, Asset Management, or Investment Research).
* Proven experience in generating new business and developing long-term client relationships.
* Strong presentation, negotiation, and communication skills (both written and oral).
* A track record of managing complex sales processes and closing high-value deals.
* Ability to engage with senior business users and key decision-makers to influence the sales process.
* Experience in a high-growth or start-up environment is desirable.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
