Your Opportunity This role is a great opportunity for a skilled Payroll Officer to oversee payroll processes for the Queensland trading entity of a growing national business with over 1,100 staff.
You will play a crucial part in ensuring accurate and timely weekly and fortnightly payroll in an immediate team of 3 and part of a wider finance team of 20.
Reporting to the Payroll supervisor, you will also get exposure to the Group Financial Controller, and you will collaborate closely with State Managers and HR to support local workforce needs.
As the Payroll Officer, your responsibility will span from creating new employee records to resolving payroll queries, handling termination payments, and ensuring compliance with award and EBA standards.
You will be essential to maintaining payroll integrity, reconciling records, and ensuring all employees are paid correctly and on time.
What You'll Do: Coordinate and process weekly payroll for the Queensland entity from timesheets, ensuring accuracy and addressing exceptions.
Investigate and respond to any payroll inquiries, process special pays (e.g., back pays, bonuses), and ensure timely superannuation and STP processing.
Reconcile payroll reports to the General Ledger monthly, ensuring precise records.
Develop and maintain payroll procedures, manage payroll adjustments, and assist with annual financial audits.
Demonstrate high ethical standards and integrity, maintaining strict confidentiality of payroll data.
Who You Are: You are a detail-oriented Payroll professional with a solid understanding of payroll systems and award/EBA interpretation.
With at least 5 years of payroll experience, you are known for your organizational skills, communication ability, and capability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
You are proficient in managing both white- and blue-collar payroll needs and bring a proactive approach to resolving payroll challenges.
