Reporting to the Horticultural Assets Supervisor and Head Gardener, you will work hands-on in a dynamic, outdoor environment on a full-time basis. As an Assistant Gardener in the Horticultural team, you’ll make a positive impact by: Pruning and planting as directed by the Head Gardener or Horticulture Supervisor Mowing various areas and types of lawn Maintaining all plants within the specified area in a healthy, vigorous, and presentable manner Removing dead plant matter, including small fallen branches and leaf litter Watering plants and lawn areas as directed Operating key items of plant and equipment when required Maintaining plant and equipment in a clean and safe condition Repairing and servicing equipment as necessary within capabilities Serco is a place for you You are a dedicated and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working outdoors and contributing to the beautification of public spaces. You are physically fit, able to undertake hands-on tasks, and have a keen eye for detail. Your strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team make you a perfect fit for this role. To be successful in this role you’ll have: Experience in general gardening and an understanding of horticultural machinery operation (minimum six months) Experience with graffiti removal Good oral and written communication skills Ability to interact with a variety of people from the general public to senior managers A valid Driver’s License A completed qualification in Horticulture and/or Conservation and Ecosystem Management (Desirable) Demonstrated experience maintaining biodiverse native vegetation landscapes (Desirable) You do not need to match every listed expectation to apply for this position.
