We put the customer and our community at the centre of all that we do, ensuring our services are efficient and accessible.Lead the development, delivery and evaluation of Council's Major and Landmark events and festivals program, including creative programming, to ensure events are vibrant, inclusive, targeted, compliant and in alignment with Council's strategic objectives and provide an enabling environment to facilitate community and commercial event organisers to deliver events and festivals in Hume.What you'll be doing:Direct and manage a high performing Events and Festivals team to ensure that Hume's Major and Landmark Events are relevant, targeted and align with the strategic objectives of Hume City Council.Lead all aspects of the planning, creative programming, development and implementation of Council's events and festivals program including community liaison and development, risk management and OH&S, contractor and vendor management, marketing and promotional campaigns, and sponsorship, ensuring Council's events are safe, well managed, accessible and compliant.Proactively manage the Events and Festivals budget to ensure a financially sustainable approach to event delivery, including the ability to identify and pursue external funding and sponsorship opportunities.Deliver the annual Event Grants program, facilitating the delivery of events and festivals activities that build community and cultural capacity and contribute to social inclusion in Hume.Lead Council's events permitting process to ensure the effective response to requests for events in public spaces in Hume, including facilitation of the process, and identify continuous improvements to meet statutory and regulatory requirements, whilst supporting accessibility and community amenity.Work collaboratively and proactively with internal departments and external partners/stakeholders to coordinate support for their ability to successfully plan and stage safe and compliant events across Hume city.Provide expert advice, research and planning to position Council's role in events and festivals development and delivery, including risk management and compliance, with the ability to translate this work into strategies, policies, procedures and operational documents.The skills and experience you'll bring to the role:Significant demonstrated experience in Events and Festivals management, including planning, creative programming, promotion, delivery and evaluation, ideally in a local government setting.Demonstrated experience and skills to lead, manage and motivate teams including managing setting priorities to achieve a broad range of outcomes within set timelines and allocated resources.Demonstrated experience and understanding of event compliance requirements, balancing a strong understanding of the high-risk legal and regulatory environment that events exist in, and event organisers must adhere to, alongside a streamlined and accessible approvals process.Experience in developing and delivering event capacity building initiatives that support community and commercial event organisers to host safe, successful, and sustainable events in Hume city.Advanced interpersonal skills and the capacity to develop constructive relationships with a variety of stakeholders, negotiate outcomes and build collaboration, both within and external to the organisation.Required Certifications & Qualifications:Tertiary qualifications in events management, marketing or related discipline with experience in event management; or substantial relevant experience in event and festival management with lesser formal qualifications.Experience in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating events and festivals including experience in dealing with OH&S and Risk management issues as they relate to events and festivals.Current driver's licence.For any enquiries, please contact Hazel Finnie on.
