Position Overview:
As part of St Philip’s Teaching School’s significant expansion, the role of Teaching School Lead Specialist – Professional Learning Development is crucial in supporting our nationwide efforts to form classroom-ready Christian teachers. This established position is central to our strategic vision, focusing on the enhancement of our professional learning development framework and mentoring model to elevate teacher training across the country. The Teaching School Lead Specialist – Professional Learning Development will work closely with the Teaching School Principal, Deputy Principal, and key stakeholders to drive innovation, excellence, and strategic leadership in the professional learning and formation of coordinators, mentors, and trainees.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Cultivate and sustain a Christian worldview and educational philosophy throughout the Teaching School, ensuring that all activities and programs align with core values and mission.
Address ongoing member school needs by gathering feedback, and support with developing responsive roadmaps for meeting those needs.
Continuously evaluate and improve the development of training materials and educational resources for the Teaching School.
Work collaboratively with the Executive Leadership Team to facilitate the College vision and contribute to the development and implementation of the St Philip’s Teaching School strategic plan.
Curriculum and Program Development:
Evaluate and enhance the professional learning framework and consultancy resources for St Philip’s, Affiliate and Partner Hubs.
Develop innovative, technology-enhanced learning solutions aligned with current pedagogical advancements that support pre-service teachers.
Lead the implementation and integration of signature resources such as Mosaic, Walkthrus, and Springboards.
Develop and maintain the curriculum components of the online learning management system, Mosaic.
Source high-quality professional learning resources and opportunities for the Teaching School and member schools.
Design and deliver training programs to ensure the effective usage and integration of signature resources, including WalkThrus, Mosaic and Springboards.
Coaching and Mentoring:
Lead the ongoing development of a mentoring and coaching model that supports the professional growth of Mentor and Trainee teachers.
Oversee the monitoring of mentoring and coaching practices to ensure they are inclusive and reflective of best practices in Christian education.
Supervision and Support:
Provide ongoing support, guidance, and mentoring to coordinators, mentoring and trainees, ensuring they receive the necessary resources and professional development to excel in their roles.
Model effective mentoring and teaching practices during school visits and Insight sessions to guide trainees and mentors in their development.
Conduct school visits to supervise and monitor the formation and professional growth of trainees and mentors.
Monitor the effective use of signature resources such as Mosaic, Walkthrus, and Springboards in fostering effective learning and teaching.
Provide comprehensive support to affiliate and partner schools through the development of the Affiliate Care and Engagement (ACE) program and providing and promoting revised handbooks and resources.
Develop and deliver targeted onboarding and training sessions, including a range of videos and resources, to facilitate active engagement with Mosaic and Walkthrus.
Program Evaluation:
Oversee the quality of professional learning initiatives and programs.
Monitor and respond to feedback and data on the effectiveness of the Teaching School’s programs and initiatives.
Make recommendations aligned with the strategic vision of the Teaching School to lead continuous improvement.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Foster strong working relationships with Teaching School Coordinators, Mentor Teachers, and other key stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of curriculum and best practices into the school-based training experience.
Maintain existing partnerships (Mosaic, Walkthrus, Teaching School partners) and expand partnerships with external organisations that advance the Teaching School vision.
Additional Duties:
Undertake any additional responsibilities as directed by the Teaching School Principal or supervisor, in line with your skills, competencies, and experience.
Desired Skills and Experience
Proven leadership experience in professional learning development and teacher training.
Strong commitment to Christian education and the integration of a Christian worldview.
Qualified and accredited teacher with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
Expertise in coaching and mentoring within an educational context.
Experience in developing and delivering education-focused professional learning to teachers.
Experience with technology-enhanced learning and online management systems.
Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and drive strategic initiatives.
