The Staff Project Engineer for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for the delivery of high value equipment engineering projects to key Beckman European sites including Clare, Ireland and Krefeld, Germany. As an employee of Beckman, you will become familiar with the Danaher Business systems (DBS) and as part of this, you will grow your expertise in various DBS tools, with the potential of becoming a certified practitioner in one.
This position is part of the Clare Engineering function, and partners strongly with the Operations and Project Management Office teams. In this role, you can expect to travel in Europe up to 50% of time time in support of equipment life-cycle projects and or equipment improvement projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
1. Manage large scale equipment engineering projects and upgrade projects, working with 3rd part vendors to manage the full equipment life cycle.
2. Provide Engineering support to facilities and manufacturing teams and provides technical guidance to broader engineering team.
3. Enable continuous improvement of production and output with ownership of associated projects including relevant documentation updates.
4. Work with operations, and engineering teams on new equipment design and be the link engineer to external 3rd party equipment builders.
5. Utilise problem solving process PSP / DIVE to troubleshoot new products / process / equipment while, working closely with cross functional team and/or external vendors.
6. Develop and use visual project management and daily management boards to drive standard work and identify opportunities for improvements.
7. Be an influential team member, fully motivated to achieve and demonstrate best practices in line with the department and site objectives and communicate effectively and clearly on Equipment and process issues, focusing on root cause, status update, and counter measures.
The essential requirements of the job include:
8. Degree (Level 8) in Engineering or related discipline with 9+ years relevant experience (such as engineering experience in an industrial environment) OR Master's degree with 7+ years relevant experience or Doctoral degree with 4+ years relevant experience
9. Strong equipment engineering experience.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
10. Working in an engineering role with a focus on projects
11. Lean / Continuous Improvement such as Kaizen, PSP, etc.
12. Exercising judgment when interpreting company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues
13. Working with cross functional teams in different cultural settings
