The Opportunity:
Join our Marketing and Communications team as a Communications Specialist in Canberra, where you'll play a key role in shaping and delivering impactful communications that support the wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. This is a unique opportunity to manage content across channels and work closely with stakeholders to amplify our organisation's visibility, reputation, and mission.
Key Responsibilities:
* Strategic Communications: Develop and implement strategic communication initiatives that support the organisation's vision and foster system-wide change.
* Content Creation: Produce and manage digital and print content across multiple channels, ensuring messaging remains impactful, relevant, and aligned with organisational goals.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, to ensure communications are culturally responsive, accurate, and engaging.
* Media Management: Oversee media relations, respond to media inquiries, and manage press coverage to promote positive visibility for our initiatives.
* Internal Communications: Develop materials that keep staff informed and engaged, cultivating a supportive and culturally inclusive workplace environment.
* Brand Consistency: Ensure all communications adhere to brand guidelines, aligning with the organisation's mission and values.
* Event and Impact Support: Support event communications and evaluate campaign effectiveness, leveraging insights to drive continuous improvement.
About You:
* Demonstrated experience in a communications role, ideally within the not-for-profit or community sector.
* A strong understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and a commitment to advancing their social and emotional wellbeing.
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor content for diverse audiences.
* Experience in managing social media platforms and creating digital content.
* A collaborative mindset, able to balance multiple priorities with attention to detail.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field (desirable).
