About the Role
As an Upper Limb Fellow, you will have the opportunity to engage in both clinical practice and academic development within a dynamic, fast-paced orthopaedic department. Working closely with the Head of Unit and Senior Orthopaedic Consultants, you will provide high-quality clinical care to both inpatient and outpatient populations, ensuring excellent patient outcomes. You will also play a key role in overseeing and mentoring Resident Medical Officers and Interns, fostering the next generation of medical professionals. Your responsibilities will include organising clinical review programs, contributing to quality assurance, and preparing reports to maintain high standards of care.
In addition to your clinical duties, you will participate in after-hours emergency on-call services, contributing to the department’s response to acute cases. The position offers ample opportunity for academic growth, with involvement in postgraduate teaching programs and active participation in ongoing research initiatives. As a fellow, you will lead designated research projects, contributing to the advancement of orthopaedic care in upper limb surgery. This role provides a unique chance to enhance your skills in both clinical and academic settings, while working alongside highly skilled consultants in a supportive, collaborative environment.

4. Essential Qualifications : MBBS or equivalent, AHPRA registration, completion of specialist orthopaedic training, and advanced fracture management courses.
5. Leadership & Supervision : Experience in supervising and directing junior medical staff, with strong problem-solving and negotiating skills.
6. Clinical & Communication Skills : Excellent clinical skills appropriate for orthopaedic duties, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
7. Research & Knowledge : A proven track record in research with peer-reviewed publications, and a solid understanding of hospital structures, policies, and health and safety principles.
