About North East Link
The Spark Consortium has been selected for the Central Package of the North East Link Project - Victoria's biggest road project.
The Spark Consortium’s Design and Construction Contractor - which comprises Webuild, CPB Contractors, GS Engineering and Construction and China Construction Oceania - will deliver the twin three-lane tunnels and key interchanges for the project.
The Central Package will be delivered as a Public Private Partnership and provides three-lane twin tunnels that will close the missing link in Melbourne’s freeway network from the M80 Ring Road to an upgraded Eastern Freeway, reducing journey times and diverting heavy vehicles away from local roads. Up to 135,000 vehicles will use North East Link every day, reducing congestion in the north-east while maintaining local roads.
1. Role Overview
As a Design Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design and development of critical infrastructure components. You'll collaborate with a diverse team of professionals to deliver innovative solutions that meet project objectives and exceed industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
2. Contribute to the design and analysis of infrastructure elements.
3. Utilize your technical expertise in civil or structural engineering.
4. Employ industry-leading software and tools to enhance design efficiency.
5. Coordination of comment close out sessions
6. Coordination of select design package(s) incl program
7. Coordination and resolution of interface with other consultants/disciplines
8. Coordinate weekly design and construction coordination meetings providing clear records agreements and actions
9. Review (and management) of cost plans against budget
10. Provide input to Design Manager Reviews of consultant Variations / Claims
11. Manage Stakeholder and Client expectations and communicate effectively with the project team
12. Coordination and Presentation of key issues for resolution to wider audiences
13. Proactive engagement with Consultant/s to resolve technical issues to achieve package delivery as per program.
14. Developing a clear brief and design program that:
15. Establishes the design concept and ensures it meets client requirements;
16. Facilitates flexible design;
17. Generates momentum to improve time, cost, margin and quality outcomes of project.
18. Conducting design reviews.
19. Supply drafting and estimating staff with information to assist in the production of detailed drawings, the development of tools, quantities, materials list and cost estimates as required.
20. Prepare plans, layouts and designs (predominately temporary works) with supporting calculations for specifications.
21. Assist in the preparation of technical detail for inquiries, quotations, contract documentation, technical literature or in the analysis of failures following customer complaints.
22. Challenging consultants to provide compliant designs
23. Provide support to Geotechnical CPS Manager and field team
Qualifications and Experience
• 5-10 years’ experience in relevant discipline (Geotechincal Engineering)
• Masters or Undergraduate Degree in relevant discipline
• Computer skills (word processing, email), company management system requirements.
• Knowledge of safety and environmental legislation.
• Knowledge of project management structure, plans, specifications, standards, and implications for project accountabilities.
• Strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Client focused.
• Present work with high level of accuracy.
