The Role This role provides individual/group treatment to children and adolescents and liaising with schools in the area. The location is Armidale, the Child & Adolescent Counsellor/Project Officer will be required to provide counselling at STARTTS' office and primary and secondary schools in Armidale. Skills and Qualifications Required Essential: Relevant tertiary qualifications in counselling, social work, psychology, or a related field with eligibility for membership of the relevant professional association. Demonstrated psychological assessment and counselling experience in a cross-cultural context, particularly understanding the issues affecting refugees, including resettlement issues and the effects of torture. Demonstrated relevant clinical group work and training skills. Demonstrated knowledge of the cultures and health needs of refugee communities in Armidale Region. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in community development, community liaison, and advocacy. Excellent oral, written & interpersonal communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, with the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team within a multicultural environment. Current NSW Driver's Licence. Experience in working with children and adolescents in a clinical setting. Desirable Criteria: 1. Knowledge of local communities in Armidale and available services. *This position is considered child-related employment and will require a Working with Children Background Check and a National Police Check.
