EPMO Specialist - Capital Infrastructure

About the role
The EPMO Specialist plays a key role in ensuring V/Line's Capital Infrastructure project portfolio delivers its strategic value through the review of key project artefacts, provision of advice and support in resolving complex issues, effective stakeholder engagement and project assurance activities.
Collaborating closely with project managers and directors, the EPMO Specialist ensures alignment with the Enterprise Project Management Framework (EPMF) and Capital Infrastructure Delivery Methodology throughout the project lifecycle.
Additional accountabilities include:
* Ensure consistent application of the EPMF and Capital Infrastructure Delivery Methodology by providing assurance, advice, and support to project leaders and teams.
* Oversee governance and conduct assurance activities, including stage gates, health checks, and lessons-learned workshops.
* Build strong partnerships with the Projects Group and senior leaders to promote effective project management and governance practices.
* Enhance the quality of Concept Briefs and Business Cases through expert guidance, ensuring projects are fully scoped, planned, and involve the right stakeholders.
* Monitor project progress, identify risks early, and implement corrective actions to keep projects on track.
* Quality-assure project control documents and recommend improvements to strengthen risk management and project outcomes.
* Ensure project governance decisions are coordinated across forums and effectively communicated.
* Foster project management capability through training, knowledge-sharing initiatives, and Communities of Practice, in collaboration with the EPMO Lead.
* Drive continuous improvement of EPMO services, focusing on stakeholder needs, industry trends, and value delivery.
About you
We're seeking a collaborative EPMO Specialist with strong interpersonal, influencing, and problem-solving skills who can build relationships, adapt to change, and drive results. Integrity, stakeholder engagement, and a drive for project management excellence are essential.
Our ideal candidate will possess the following:
* Project Management Expertise: Proven experience in EPMO/PMO roles with the ability to coach others and build project management capability.
* Capital Infrastructure Knowledge: Strong understanding of infrastructure projects, including engineering, contracts, health and safety, and environmental considerations.
* Stakeholder Engagement & Influence: Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage senior leaders and navigate complex situations.
* Strategic Problem-Solving: Expertise in aligning projects with organisational goals, managing dependencies, and using critical thinking to solve project challenges.
* Qualifications & Industry Experience: Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, P3O) and qualifications in business, engineering, or related fields. Rail or infrastructure experience is a plus.
