Initially looking to engage a Web Developer for a fixed term to enhance and rebuild our company's website and e-commerce storefront. After that, there is the opportunity to be engaged on a part-time basis for ongoing website maintenance and day two support. We are looking for a talented and detail-oriented Web Developer with a strong focus on e-commerce and web design. In this role, you will be responsible for creating a visually appealing, functional, and user-friendly website and e-commerce platform that enhances the customer shopping experience. The added function of tailored customer portals with a customer login feature is a further requirement. You will collaborate with the client to ensure that our online platform meets business goals and delivers a seamless user experience. Key Responsibilities: E-Commerce Website Development: Design, develop, and maintain e-commerce website using industry-standard technologies (Currently the business utilizes WIX E Commerce; this to be reviewed and determined ongoing). Implement, customize, and optimize shopping cart functionalities and checkout processes to improve conversion rates. Web Design and User Experience: Conduct user testing and gather feedback to continuously improve site usability and performance. Front-End Development: Integrate APIs and third-party services, including payment gateways, shipping providers, and analytics tools. Optimize web applications for maximum speed and scalability while adhering to best practices in SEO. Back-End Development: Manage databases and perform server-side scripting to control and store data effectively. Ensure site security by implementing best practices around data protection and compliance. Ongoing Maintenance and Day 2 Support: Monitor site performance, perform regular updates, and troubleshoot issues as they arise. Provide end-user support for e-commerce functionalities and train internal teams on platform usage as needed. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with business owners to ensure alignment between design, branding, and online promotional activities. Coordinate with business owners to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality outputs on time. Engage in team brainstorming sessions to develop innovative solutions and enhance e-commerce strategies. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Web Development, Computer Science, Graphic Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Proven experience of 3+ years in web development, specifically in an e-commerce environment. Previous experience with e-commerce platforms (Shopify, WIX, WooCommerce, Magento) and their customization. Solid understanding of SEO principles and website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, SEMrush). Preferred Skills: Knowledge of graphic design and visual branding; proficiency in design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Figma. Experience with version control systems (Git) and project management tools (Jira, Trello). Familiarity with back-end technologies and database management systems is a plus.
