Our client is a manufacturer based in the North-Eastern suburbs, who are looking for immediate support within their finance team due to activity in the business.
About the role
This position is a 3-month contract role with the opportunity for permanent extension. The Cost Accountant will partner with the Production Manager and the broader Operations team, driving performance across all areas by providing accurate and timely insights that enable the team to effectively manage all areas of production and supply chain.
Your responsibilities are as follows:
1. Provide ongoing business partnering to enable Operations to achieve financial and operational targets.
2. Play a key role in the month-end close process, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
3. Investigate and report on plant variances and KPIs.
4. Prepare the monthly forecast for production and supply chain.
5. Develop and/or implement necessary processes to support internal forecasting/reporting requirements.
6. Perform moderate to complex cost analysis and audits associated with the cost accounting function.
7. Provide financial support for productivity initiatives, including allocation, tracking and reporting.
8. Provide financial support for capital investment analysis and fixed asset accounting.
9. Provide ad hoc financial analysis as requested.
About you
10. Minimum 3 years general business and financial experience.
11. Experience in operations, manufacturing or related industry preferred.
12. Experience with financial modelling.
13. Continuous Improvement: experience identifying areas for continuous improvement and/or cost reductions and making recommendations for enhancement.
14. Business Partnering: experience of effectively managing relationships with internal customers.
15. Internal Controls: experience working with and maintaining existing controls.
16. High level of attention to detail with proven level of quality and accuracy of work.
17. Proactive research, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
18. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
19. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks in a high volume, fast paced environment.
20. Intermediate level of Word and Excel.
