About Our Rockhampton Service
We provide free alcohol and other drug counselling and support services in Rockhampton and surrounding regions. You will work with a team of 6 clinicians, having your own counselling room and regular team meetings.
Your Opportunity
As an AOD Counsellor Case Manager, you'll engage and support clients in their ongoing management, counselling, and treatment of AOD dependency and associated factors. You'll advocate for them, celebrate their successes, and help develop their capacity to move forward with confidence.
Main Responsibilities:
* Provide high-quality engagement, assessment, counselling, case management, and support services to clients.
* Manage a caseload of clients, including service coordination, referral, and advocacy to support them in achieving their goals.
* Engage stakeholders and build relationships with referring agencies to generate client appointments.
* One day a week, provide outreach to clients at the community hub in Yeppoon and nearby facilities (a 30-minute drive from your usual work location).
Complex Client Presentations:
This position involves working with complex client presentations, where sole focus is on AOD support, but case management requires supporting clients with mental health, domestic and family violence, homelessness, and financial concerns.
Diversion Work:
You'll have the opportunity to deliver diversion work, meeting with referred clients to provide assessments and counselling through brief interventions and psychoeducation.
Requirements:
* A relevant tertiary qualification in social work, psychology, or a related health field.
* Applied knowledge in contemporary evidence-based AOD counselling practice, case management, and intake and assessment.
* Proficiency in conducting assessments, developing care plans, and delivering therapeutic interventions.
* The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* A willingness to learn and continue to develop your professional practice.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with clients and stakeholders.
* A current Australian-issued driver's licence and Working with Children Check (e.g., Blue Card) or the ability to obtain this.
* Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and other applications.
