This position is on a permanent part-time basis 52 hours per fortnight. This role is located in the Facilities, Infrastructure and Support Services. About your opportunity The Diet Assistant works closely with the staff from the Nutrition and Dietetics Department to deliver high quality patient care.The Food Services Department Diet Assistant supports the provision of nutritional care for patients at the Townsville Hospital through duties related to the menu selection and completion and the monitoring of nutrition in accordance with prescribed guidelines and established procedures.Salary range of $34.53 to $36.30 p.h. (CA3)Annual leave with leave loading12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.Other employment benefits may include: professional development, salary sacrificing options, shift and locality allowances, employee wellness and assistance programs, and access to corporate discounts.The successful candidate will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following A sound knowledge of nutrition, diet-disease relationships and hospital food service, with an ability to apply and improve this knowledge.High level communication skills to interact effectively with patients, Dietitians, Food Service and other staff in the hospital environment.Ability to understand and respond to patient needs.Ability to contribute to quality improvement activities, supported by Dietetics.Requirements While not mandatory, a Certificate III Health Assistant (Nutrition and Dietetic Support) or Certificate IV Allied Health Assistant would be well regarded.This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.Probation period may apply.Pre-employment checks will be conducted.Please refer to the Role Description for further details.
