Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services LTD (KAMS) is a well-established regional Aboriginal community controlled health service, founded in 1986, which provides centralised advocacy and resource support for 6 independent member services, as well as providing direct clinical services in a further 6 remote Aboriginal communities across the region.
KAMS has successfully delivered high-quality, accessible comprehensive primary health care services over its 22 years of operation and has provided innovation and national leadership in areas such as health information management and evidence-based best practice in primary health care.
About the OpportunityKAMS now has an opportunity for a Maternal and Child Health Aboriginal Health Worker to join their friendly, multidisciplinary team in Broome WA, on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Operations Manager, Remote Services, you will be required to provide antenatal, postnatal and child health services for children up to the age of 5 years. The Midwife and Child Health Nurse provides clinical care and advice and the Maternal and Child Health Aboriginal Health Worker translates this information to ensure the health messages are understood and helps facilitate the interaction between individuals, family groups, and the community.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
Develop relationships and improve communication between clients and service providers.Facilitate the continuity of care and care coordination for Beagle Bay and Bidyadanga clients accessing maternal and child health services.Facilitate and participate in the delivery of health education and support groups.Comply with the organizational requirements of the position.The ideal candidate will be a Aboriginal Health Worker - Certificate IV, who is registered or is eligible for registration with AHPRA.
Experience with clinical database systems and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel will be highly regarded. Due to the nature of this role, a current manual driver's licence with the capacity to drive a 4WD is required.
