CMR is proud to represent an NGO in seeking dedicated Social Workers to support vital community-led programs in remote Aboriginal communities. These roles focus on early intervention, healing, and social and emotional wellbeing through culturally safe and impactful initiatives. Our client is currently running two projects:
Project 1:
This early intervention program aims to reduce domestic, family, and sexual violence among Aboriginal boys and young men aged 11-17 years old. The social workers will:
* Provide culturally safe, therapeutic care to young Aboriginal males.
* Facilitate bush camps, school-based, community-based, and on-country activities focused on healing, wellbeing, and skill development.
* Deliver education on healthy relationships, emotional regulation, and consent in settings that include schools, community gatherings, and on Country.
* Collaborate closely with Aboriginal staff, communities, and key partners
Project 2:
This project takes a regional, community-led approach to suicide prevention through capacity building and culturally safe mental health promotion. The social workers will:
* Assist with needs assessments, community consultations, and documentation of existing programs and resources across the region.
* Yarn with community members to understand their priorities and guide the development of locally relevant suicide prevention activities.
* Assist with the development of a co-designed, culturally appropriate, evidence-based suicide prevention intervention plan.
* Support the delivery of our clients Social and Emotional Wellbeing programs, including Mental Health First Aid, trauma-informed care training, and other school-based or community education sessions or activities.
* Raise mental health awareness through community engagement and the development of health promotion materials and activities.

About You:
* Qualified Social Worker or Mental Health Professional with experience in community-based support, social work, or mental health care.
* Experience working in remote Aboriginal communities and a commitment to cultural safety.
* Willingness to travel regularly to remote communities.

* Start Date: ASAP
* End Date: 30 June 2025 with possibility to extend
