James Cook University is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Senior Research Officer to join our team in Regional and Community Development. This exciting opportunity will allow you to contribute to cutting-edge research that shapes the future of our diverse regions and communities.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Drive meaningful change in regional and First Nations communities! We're seeking a Senior Research Officer to collaborate with key stakeholders on governance, planning, and sustainable development. This role focuses on natural resource management, economic transition, rural supply chains, agricultural investment, Indigenous-led development, and strategic water and energy planning—all aimed at delivering stronger economic, social, and environmental outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
PhD or equivalent experience in regional/community development, Indigenous-led development, policy, environment, or related fields.
Strong knowledge of governance and planning for regional and First Nations development.
Experience working in research partnerships with First Nations stakeholders and multi-disciplinary teams.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with governments, Indigenous and non-Indigenous rural organizations.
Proven ability to manage projects and produce high-quality research, policy, and academic reports.
ABOUT THE DIVISION OF RESEARCH
The Research Division plays a pivotal role in the University by developing and implementing research strategy and policy, identifying and fostering research strength, delivering research services including grants, ethics and commercialisation, managing research infrastructure and promoting and coordinating collaboration with governments, industry, publicly funded research agencies and other universities
