About the Role:
Enabling Pathways Community is looking for experienced Youth Workers to play a crucial role in our mission of healing and development for young individuals facing trauma, abuse, or neglect. Your role will involve delivering specialised services, including therapeutic interventions and cultural enrichment programs, ensuring our commitment to continuous learning remains at the forefront of child and youth care.
We are committed to ensuring that you are fully supported and trained. We provide training opportunities including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Foundation training, as well as a supportive management team to guide you during the day and a dedicated on-call team for after-hours support for all of our youth workers.
As a Youth Worker, your role will involve:
* Provide personalised support/care to children/young people within the community and in placement.
* Application of the child's care plan in all day-to-day tasks.
* Providing guidance to the young person around positive life choices.
* General household duties, including but not limited to cleaning, shopping, and general maintenance.
* Work as part of the broader care team, providing therapeutic care for the child/young person.
* Report to Supervisor/Coordinator regarding any support/care-related issues, including advising the relevant Supervisor/ Coordinator /After Hours Coordinator immediately after or during an incident.
* Complete relevant paperwork regarding the client - this must be done prior to the completion of each shift.
* General administration duties, such as managing finances, uploading receipts and invoices received during shift, maintaining young people’s files, complete forms.
* Attend training sessions & meetings as required.
Skills & experience
* Minimum of 6-8 months of experience in a relevant field or role is highly desirable.
* Able to confidently navigate through Microsoft Office software.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including working and communicating effectively with clients, their families, and other professionals.
* Ability to work in a busy environment, both independently and as a part of a team.
* Comply with & understand all privacy and confidentiality issues.
* Aware of appropriate cultural protocols for working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people and those from CALD backgrounds.
* Possess knowledge of trauma-informed therapeutic care to effectively deescalate and respond to critical incidents involving young individuals.
* Experience in supporting children and young people with 'complex needs and behaviors.'
* Must be familiar with child safety plans and must follow safety measures and procedures at all times.
Mandatory Requirements
* Current Blue Card issued by the Queensland Government.
* Clean Police Clearance Check dated within the last 6 months.
* Traffic History Report from the last 5 years.
* Hold a Minimum Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (or equivalent) or undertaking studies.
* Current Open Driver License.
* Current First Aid and CPR certification.
* Completion of the Hope and Healing Framework Foundations Training.
* Proof of citizenship (passport, birth certificate or citizenship certificate) or VISA if applicable.
