About this role
With over 35 years’ experience working with Defence and with the recently awarded 6-year Firefighting Services contract, 2024 is an exciting time to join Ventia. In support of this newly awarded contract, Ventia are seeking a Senior SHEQ Advisor to join their global and diverse organisation.
As a SHEQ Professional for our Firefighting Services Contract you will work with operational teams to foster an integrated approach to deliver on legal, contractual, and business SHEQ requirements. Based in Melbourne, Adelaide or Perth, travel and working outside core hours will be a large component of this role due to sites located across VIC, NSW, QLD, WA and SA.
What you will be doing
As a SHEQ Professional, you will be primarily responsible for:
* Proactively enabling safe and healthy workplaces and communities.
* Leading, communicating and providing SHEQ advice and support to the operations team, subcontractors and stakeholders.
* Coaching and mentoring the Fire Capability Managers and Fire Station Managers in fulfilling their SHEQ responsibilities and accountabilities.
* Managing and applying the Ventia SHEQ governance framework and management system.
* Using systems and processes to enable an integrated approach to SHEQ management so we continue to deliver on our legal, contractual and business requirements.
* Conducting SHEQ inspections, interactions, audits and implementing corrective and preventative action.
* Reviewing risk management documentation e.g., SWMS, risk assessments and investigations.
* Facilitating incident and injury management procedures, including investigations and stakeholder management.
* Working with and across teams, to apply relevant legislation, regulations and standards.

About you
* Minimum Diploma level qualification in Workplace/Occupational Health and Safety or Environmental management.
* Formal training in incident investigation. Experience in leading ICAM investigations an advantage.
* Experience in a SHEQ role, with relevant industry experience desirable.
* Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement SHEQ strategies to ensure compliance, minimise risk and enable continuous improvement.
* Ability to implement, track and maintain SHEQ objectives and targets.
* Operational experience in high-risk environments advantageous.
* Detailed knowledge of SHEQ legislation, regulatory requirements and ISO standards.
* Proficient in using online applications including Microsoft Office, safety management and reporting systems.
* Strong document control background regarding inspection and compliance.
* Drivers Licence required due to travel component of role.
