About the opportunity
The multiple successful Senior/Lead Mechanical Engineers will be providing technical design expertise to ASC and the Royal Australian Navy in support of the Collins Class Submarine (CCSM) Life of Type Extension (LOTE) Program. The role will see the successful applicants taking responsibility for mechanical design, modification and integration of submarine auxiliary systems.
There are multiple Permanent, full time positions available for either a Senior or a Lead Mechanical Engineer.
Responsibilities
1. Completion of complex calculations/analysis/modelling
2. Design of a new systems, system redesign and sub-system/component design
3. Development of new processes and tools to improve accuracy and efficiency of work
4. Provision of technical direction throughout a design projects lifecycle
5. Preparation of engineering documentation such as specifications, sketches, test procedures and engineering reports
6. Review and approval of engineering artefacts
Skills & Experiences
7. Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or similar (Degree must satisfy membership requirements of the Institution of Engineers Australia at MIEAust level)
8. Diploma in relevant engineering fields will be considered for Technical Officer placements
9. Demonstrated analytical skills and technical knowledge in engineering
10. Senior level experience in complex mechanical programs
11. Systems engineering principles and there application in the design lifecycle
12. Ability to prepare well-structured and concise reports on progress of the investigation / rectification work to various stakeholders
13. Ability to work unsupervised and to lead a multi-discipline team of engineers and technical personnel
