About the OPPORTUNITY
We have a great opportunity for a Network Engineer to join our Central Functions Business Unit based at Adelaide. Our location is flexible and we are open to considering applicants from Melbourne and Newcastle.

Reporting to the Hosted Platform Manager with a focus on the Defence Delivery side of the business, you will be responsible for the maintenance, support and optimisation of our corporate and project Networking infrastructure to ensure efficient and secure communication and data transfer within the organisation.
You will work with both Senior Engineers and the Network Architect on aspects of Network design.
Key responsibilities include: Implement, support and maintain local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and other networked systemsMonitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure maximum uptime and reliabilityConfigure and install network equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other hardware devicesIdentify and implement improvements and optimisations to process and technologyParticipate in recovery action in the event of a network failure or major network incidentContribute to and maintain detailed and clear documentation in the form of High and Low level designs, as-built, how-to knowledge base and troubleshooting articlesProvide input into project tasks including requirements gathering, design, implementation and transition to supportEnsure the day to day stability and operation of the corporate networkEnsure all network systems are within compliance of security policiesAssist with educating customers and support teams in network concepts and troubleshooting techniquesContribute to solution designs that are consistent with architectural and business needsPlan and monitor project, maintenance and integration activities to quality, cost and scheduleBuild and maintain valuable relationships with vendors and stakeholdersOptionally participate in the on-call roster providing out-of-hours support for key systems About YOU Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience + vendor certifications) preferredExperience in designing, implementing and supporting Enterprise networking environments including LAN, WAN and DataCentreExperience designing, implementing and supporting Palo Alto Firewalls, F5 ADCs, Cisco LAN/WAN, Cisco Wireless, Cisco ISEStrong understanding of foundational technologies and ability to utilise to adapt to new systemsExperience with security best practices and compliance standardsExperience with the configuration and day-to-day operation of Cisco ACI (Application Centric Infrastructure) and SDN (Software Defined Networking) will be an advantageAbility to interact effectively with colleagues within and outside their immediate team, to implement business requirementsExceptional problem-solving capabilities, ability to use and adapt written and verbal communication skills to suit a variety of different audiences is critical to this roleWillingness to cross-skill with other technologies, for example SysAdmin (Windows/Linux), Database Administration, ApplicationsExperience with Network Automation will be an advantageDefence security clearance or eligibility to obtainEligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations We believe in hiring for potential, we know that some candidates hesitate if they don't tick all the boxes.
