About the Role
Based at our Bennetts Green Site and reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator, the Welder/Boilermaker is responsible for undertaking welding and fabrication works to maintain existing production equipment, as well as the fabrication of new equipment. They are accountable for ensuring that they comply with all Sandvik Ground Support’s systems, processes and policies which ensure work health and safety, quality and output targets are met. The duties and responsibilities associated with this role will include, but are not limited to:
* Undertake fabrication works for refurbishment or upgrade of production equipment.
* Ability to weld and pass horizontal, vertical and above head welds.
* Complete new equipment builds from engineering drawings.
* Check finished welds for strength, durability, and conformance to specifications; fixing any defects as needed.
* Work closely with engineers, fabricators, and other team members to complete projects accurately and on schedule.
* Comply with all aspects of the Sandvik Ground Support’s EH&S policies, and any reasonable instructions, procedures or systems of work which are given in the interest of providing safe workplaces and eliminating environmental harm.
About You
To be considered for this opportunity, you must possess trade qualifications in Fabrication (at least a Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade), covering areas such as Boilermaking and Sheetmetal work. Experience in a heavy manufacturing environment is essential, along with extensive skills in all forms of welding, including TIG, MIG, and MMAW. A thorough understanding of workplace safety standards is crucial, encompassing the proper use of PPE, safe handling of tools and materials, and fire prevention practices. Additionally, you should be proficient in grinding and cutting techniques, including friction and gas cutting.
