About the Role
This role has been developed to support ongoing marine compliance and our employees to gain valuable skills across the Kangaroo Island Ferry Service. This is a key role reporting to the Marine Operations Manager to ensure our business and our employees are suitably skilled to support AMSA and AMFA regulations for operational excellence and compliance including the safety of the terminal infrastructure.
A multi-functional role you will need to prioritise your time between facilitating and coordinating training needs and ensuring terminal infrastructure and service equipment for the marine operation is managed accordingly. Your leadership qualities will be required to motivate and drive employee engagement with a growth mindset for employees in upskilling and development.
This role will further support the Marine Operations Manager and will be an essential backup. Whilst a Marine background is certainly advantageous if you have experience in a Learning and Development role where you are developing competencies and identifying training gaps we would like to hear from you.
This role can be based in either Cape Jervis or Penneshaw. This role will suit if you live near or down the Fleurieu Peninsula way.
About You
A confident and experienced leader with at least 2 years’ experience you will need extensive knowledge of marine legislation and advanced knowledge of marine compliance. Desirable to this role will be a MED2 certificate of competency and tertiary qualifications in Training and Assessment and Leadership.
You will have proven leadership experience to ensure operating procedures, Company Policies, and emergency procedures are maintained in line with National Law and WHS requirements. This role will direct and lead employees to support and ensure safety compliance is not compromised and compliance is met.
You will need to build relationships with the team to implement and drive change. If you are self-motivated, results driven, organised with a continuous improvement mindset this role will suit you.

* Certificate IV in Leadership – Beneficial
* Certificate IV in Training & Assessment – Essential (or commit to completing)
* First Aid Certificate - Beneficial
* Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft (Word & Excel required)
