Exciting opportunity for an outstanding senior academic who is a leading authority within their discipline Primarily based at Nepean Clinical School, Sydney Medical School, Faculty of Medicine and Health 5 year fixed-term position with an attractive remuneration package About the opportunity The Faculty of Medicine and Health (FMH) is the largest faculty at the University of Sydney, encompassing diverse areas such as dentistry, medicine, medical sciences, nursing and midwifery, pharmacy, health sciences, and public health. Our faculty takes pride in fostering a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach to address contemporary healthcare challenges. We are currently seeking to appoint an outstanding senior academic as Professor of Medicine in partnership with the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD). The position is to be situated in Nepean Clinical School in Sydney Medical School, which is co-located with Nepean Hospital, Penrith at the foot of the Blue Mountains. The Professor of Medicine will contribute to clinical research within their specialty and to teaching in the Sydney Medical School MD Program. The successful applicant will have opportunities to work in various institutes and research centres, engage in cross-faculty collaboration, and access core research facilities at Camperdown. About you The successful applicant must be a medical practitioner with a specialist qualification, registered or eligible to be registered in NSW (AHPRA). The successful applicant will have an international reputation as an authority in their field of expertise, supported by a strong research profile that includes competitive research grants, publications, and evidence of recognition within the broader research community. The successful applicant will hold a PhD or equivalent degree and demonstrate a distinguished record of university scholarly teaching excellence, as evidenced by successful student outcomes, demonstrated impact on student learning, recognition through awards and prizes, and innovation in teaching practices. They will also have experience supervising and supporting Higher Degree by Research students. Additionally, the successful applicant will be able to contribute to developing a culture of excellence in medical education and research that is underpinned by evidence-based practice. The successful applicant must have a wide network of established relationships with key academic, industry and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders that can be leveraged to enhance the standing of the discipline, School/ Faculty and University. Term and remuneration The successful candidate will be offered a 5-year fixed-term position on a full-time basis, subject to completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees. The successful candidate will be offered an attractive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications. Visa sponsorship and relocation assistance will also be provided if required.
