We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Obstetrician and Gynaecologist for a joint appointment at 1.0 FTE within the Discipline of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Adelaide Medical School, University of Adelaide, and the Women's and Babies Division, Women's and Children's Hospital, Women's and Children's Health Network (WCHN).The successful candidate will primarily be based at the Women's and Children's Hospital, contributing to the delivery of Obstetrics and/or Gynaecology services while overseeing junior medical staff. This role encompasses clinical leadership, academic support, and administrative responsibilities across both institutions, requiring a commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and clinical practice.Key responsibilities for The University of Adelaide will broadly include:Provide leadership in the medical program teaching and evaluation in the Discipline of Obstetrics & GynaecologyTeach and supervise students in the medical and health sciences programs in the facultyProvide leadership in the development of interprofessional learningProvide leadership for teaching and curriculum development of medical students in the DisciplineProvide a high level of commitment to the strategic plans of the university and facultyLiaise and communicate with relevant sections of the community, professional associations and government organisationsKey responsibilities for the Women's and Children's Health Network will broadly include:Clinical DeliveryResponsible for the provision of an effective and efficient medical service within the objectives and the philosophies of the HospitalProvision of medical care to hospital inpatients and outpatientsMeet service requirements of WCH in both general and high risk obstetric or gynaecology care, or a relevant subspecialty (including participation in the emergency on-call roster and cover for inpatients)Clinical LeadershipProvision of training and supervision to undergraduate and post graduate medical trainees in the Women's and Babies DivisionEncouraging and supporting multi-disciplinary teamwork amongst staff for optimal clinical service outcomesInvolvement in continuing professional development activitiesAttendance and participation in the clinical meetings of the HospitalAdhering to policies, protocols and procedures as determined by the service or the Hospital that will ensure the provision of a high standard medical practiceContribute to the provision policy advice and leadership in Obstetrics & Gynaecology as requiredRepresenting the department and the Hospital at community, inter-hospital, regional and State for as requested by the Clinical Director of WABS or the Executive of the HospitalClinical AdministrationParticipation in quality, safety and clinical risk management activitiesContributing to clinical review programs to monitor standards of practice and ensure the maintenance of quality outcomesTo be successful you will need:Registration as a medical practitioner and specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist with AHPRAFRANZCOG (or equivalent)Demonstrated track record in administration, research, and teaching at an appropriate levelHigher degree in research or teaching (MD or PhD) or working towards the sameProven experience in conducting high-quality research or teaching in Obstetrics and GynaecologyExperience in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students in a tertiary clinical and academic settingThis position requires a valid Working with Children and National Police Check.If you have the talent, we'll give you the opportunity.
