The Opportunity
The Simulator Technician is responsible for working with Insitu Pacific's customers in a Defence Simulation Environment to support a range of activities such as Collective Training, Mission Planning and Rehearsals, Combined Arms training (simulated) and individual training for Customer Operators and Maintainers.
Responsibilities will include:
Act as the day-to-day single point of contact; and perform management of the Customer's Defence Simulator Environment by
* Managing Simulator booking systems.
* Operating Simulators as a Simulator Technician.
* Developing libraries of scenarios that can be executed as required to support the Customer's training needs.
* Conducting system and network administration managing the training IT infrastructure, desktop support, repairs and testing, installation, reconfiguration, configuration changes, upgrades; and assist in the modification of simulators and training components, devices, hardware and software to deliver training.
* Performing general inspections for pre-operations, post-operations and component handling of training devices, assemblies and components.
* Conducting functional tests of training device systems and peripherals.
* Troubleshooting systems and support equipment to isolate faults and repair faulty components.Reports technical and operational issues.
* Supporting Team Leads and Managers in day-to-day activities including tracking of risks, issues, action items, spares, repairs, technical enquiries and KPI Tracking relating to simulation activities.
To be successful in this role:
Essential
* Qualification in Simulator Support and/or an IT/Computer/Network or related field.
* Understanding and experience with working in an IT service environment using ITIL.
* Experience in a Defence Simulator Environment and/or experience in a commercial environment with transferrable skills.
* Knowledge and skills in the integration and operation of Live, Virtual, Constructive simulation and industry leading simulation software e.g. VBS 3 and VBS 4.
* Experience with mapping systems such as Terratools, QGIS, and ArcGiS.
* Able to travel and work for up to 1 month or more at a time in different training locations.
Eligibility
* Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet defence security requirements
* Able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance
* You may require a Foreign Work Authorisation (FWA) in order to perform this role. This is not a requirement set or determined by Boeing but by the Department of Defence under laws issued in 2024. Please refer to the Department of Defence website to understand these requirements.
