Department: Maintenance/FacilitiesJob OverviewOur client is looking for experienced Painting Trades Workers who will be responsible for performing skilled work in preparing surfaces, applying paint, and maintaining finishes on various types of structures and surfaces. This role requires extensive knowledge of painting techniques, equipment handling, safety protocols, and surface preparation processes. You will work in a variety of settings, including residential, commercial, and industrial sites, ensuring that all projects meet high-quality standards in alignment with company policies and client expectations.Key Responsibilities•Surface Preparation: Prepare a variety of surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, scraping, filling holes, and repairing cracks as necessary to achieve a smooth surface.•Application of Paint: Apply paint, stain, varnish, and other finishes to interior and exterior surfaces using brushes, rollers, or sprayers. Ensure proper colour matching and consistency.•Finishing Work: Perform finishing work such as priming, sealing, and applying base or top coats on various materials including wood, drywall, metal, and concrete.•Project Planning: Assess the scope of work and estimate time, materials, and labour required. Maintain effective communication with supervisors, team members, and clients to ensure projects are completed on schedule.•Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain painting equipment (e.g., sprayers, sanders, compressors), as well as hand tools, and ensure they are in good working condition. Follow all manufacturer guidelines and safety protocols.•Health & Safety Compliance: Follow all safety procedures to prevent hazards such as falls, respiratory issues, and chemical exposure. Use appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) and adhere to OSHA standards.•Clean-Up and Restoration: Responsible for clean-up during and after painting projects, ensuring that all workspaces are restored to their original or improved conditions. Dispose of hazardous materials according to regulations.•Quality Control: Inspect completed work to ensure that it meets quality standards and client specifications. Make any necessary adjustments or touch-ups.•Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain an inventory of supplies and materials, including paint, brushes, rollers, and other essentials. Report shortages to the supervisor to avoid project delays.Required Skills and Qualifications•Education: Certificate III in Painting and Decorating AQF equivalency or Completion of a recognized apprenticeship or vocational training program in painting or a related field is required•Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the painting trade, including experience with commercial or industrial projects.•Technical Skills: Proficiency in various painting techniques, including but not limited to brushing, rolling, and spraying.
