This senior leadership position within Surgical Services at John Hunter Hospital may be for you.
1. This position will hold overall responsibility and accountability for the operational management of Surgical Services within John Hunter Hospital.
2. You will provide leadership and direction to ensure services are delivered consistently to every patient every time.
3. You will promote excellence in all disciplines across the service to ensure continual improvement in work practice is executed to improve health outcomes for the patients who access these services.
4. Reporting to the General Manager, you will be supported by the Surgical Services leadership team and the John Hunter Hospital Executive team.
5. You will collaborate with Service Managers of all specialities, to support one another and work towards delivering consistent, high-quality care for patients throughout the facility.
6. You will assist in the Ministry of Health surgery review which aims to reduce surgery waitlists. This will involve attending meetings 2-3 times per week and actioning outcomes.
7. You will collaboratively work with a range of professional groups and critical organisational partners.
Where you’ll be working: This is an opportunity to work for one of the largest local health districts in NSW which services a population of more than 900,000 people across the Hunter, New England, and Lower Mid North Coast areas. You will be based at our district's largest hospital, John Hunter Hospital, which is a Level 6, tertiary referral, major trauma, and teaching hospital.
The position is within the Surgical Services Leadership Team, which is a challenging but rewarding environment. You will be joining a team of multi-disciplinary professionals who work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

This position is for you if:
8. You hold tertiary qualifications in health administration, business, or a related degree with a health-related focus and/or relevant equivalent extensive senior management experience in line with the position.
9. You have a thorough understanding of the waitlisting model of care within the Ministry of Health or are someone who can easily adapt to learning this.
10. Have experience in the surgery speciality in your chosen field.
11. Are passionate about reviewing and improving processes.
12. Enjoy being challenged and can juggle many projects at one time.
13. You have the ability to lead and manage the vision, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of Surgical Services to ensure the efficient, effective, and timely delivery of healthcare services.
