About the organisation and the role The iconic western rock lobster fishery is Australia's most valuable single-species wild capture fishery and the first in the world to receive sustainability accreditation from the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC). The Western Rock Lobster Council (WRL) is the industry peak body, governed by a Board of eight Directors, elected by Managed Fishery Licence (MFL) holders and two appointed independent directors.WRL represents this leading primary industry by engaging with MFL holders and advocating on their behalf, co-managing the western rock lobster fishery with government, strategically planning the industry's future, mitigating risks facing industry, managing industry's research and development program, managing education and safety, engaging with stakeholders, promoting the industry and highlighting western rock lobster as premium seafood globally.To maintain the highest standard in industry representation and promotion, WRL is seeking a highly qualified Communications and Marketing Officer who will add value to the professionalism and productivity of an excellent small executive team and enjoyable workplace. Job tasks and responsibilities The role is full-time employment with an initial three month probation period. The Communications and Marketing Officer will report to the CEO and join a seven person Executive. The role is based in Fremantle with occasional meetings requiring travel to fishing ports as far as Kalbarri.The tasks of this role include, but are not limited to: Develop, implement and manage communications and marketing plans to improve the profile and promotion of the organisation and industry.Conduct research and evaluate the effectiveness of communication and marketing strategies and initiatives for best practice and continual improvement.Maintain the overarching communication strategy across all areas of the organisation.Co-ordinate internal and external communications and marketing plans, projects and tools to ensure consistency and effectiveness.Maintain and improve communication links and alignment to strategic goals.Respond to media enquiries and prepare media statements to enhance and protect the reputation of the organisation and industry.Assist with building and nurturing productive working relationships with the Board, Members, industry, government and stakeholders.Work with key stakeholders to develop and drive effective communication strategies.Plan and undertake industry promotion through media, events, stakeholder engagement and community presentations. Undertake and report on Member, stakeholders and community surveys and research.Design, draft content and produce various forms of documents such as formal letters, newsletters, website content, annual reports and research reports.Manage all forms of social media for the organisation.Assist with the planning, implementation and marketing of organisational programs and initiatives. Skills and experience The role requires a motivated individual with extensive experience as a Communications and Marketing Officer or similar. Our preferred Marketing and Communications Officer will have:Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing, public relations or journalism.Minimum of three to five years' experience as a Marketing and Communications Officer or similar.Experience in the production, coordination and evaluation of high quality corporate marketing campaigns, including corporate publications and surveying.Excellent written and verbal communications skills.Website maintenance, including but not limited to banner updates, content and images. Highly skilled and experienced in all aspects of social media.Experience in graphic design, drafting and editing a diverse range of marketing materials.Strong experience in working with digital media to communicate with stakeholders.Experience in developing strategic plans and ensuring their objectives are met.Highly developed interpersonal skills.Ability to deal with a wide variety of stakeholders including Members of Parliament, senior executives, government department officers, researchers, consultants and industry representatives.Proven ability to develop and facilitate relationships, as well as manage contentious issues.Excellent organisation, time management and problem solving skills with the ability to respond quickly to media and communications issues.Strong attention to detail with the ability to multitask.Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team environment.A passion for promotion Remuneration and benefits WRL understands that our greatest resource is our people.
