Government Liaison, Parliamentary Business and Strategic Communications Officer The Role
The Government Liaison, Parliamentary Business and Strategic Communications team of Submarines Division, Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group, is looking to fill several APS 6 positions.
The successful candidates will be responsible for the coordination and drafting of material which supports the Submarine Division's engagement with Defence's Senior Executives, the Government, the Parliament, Defence industry and the public.
About our Team
The small and collaborative team facilitates efficient and effective engagement with Minister's offices, Defence's senior leadership, other government departments, defence industry and the public. The team works across a broad range of activities including parliamentary sittings and committees, Senate Estimates, media queries, Freedom of Information requests, Government to Government relations, industry engagement and performance reporting.
Members of the team take a collegiate and collaborative approach to delivering high performance outcomes for the Division. We work closely with the Submarines Division Executive, the Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group, Navy and the Australian Submarine Agency, directly supporting their work.

You will work independently and be accountable for delivering high-quality outcomes, exercising both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures.
You will be called upon to provide detailed ministerial, parliamentary and public communications advice to the Division and contribute to strategic planning and policy development. You will set work priorities and manage workflows and performance for the team, building team capability through coaching, feedback and developing the quality of work undertaken by others.
Eligibility
Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.
