Position objective The main objective of this role is to identify, plan, produce and evaluate a range of City of Darwin initiated events and functions designed to promote a positive image of City of Darwin and our municipality. This position is responsible for the planning, coordination, budgeting and reporting of City of Darwin’s events program. The program aims to engage locals and attract visitors and recognise Darwin’s rich and multi-faceted history.Key result areasCorporate identityPromote and embody City of Darwin’s Vision and Mission.Promote and embody City of Darwin’s staff values, CARES (Customer Service, Accountability, Respect, Excellence and Solidarity).Act in accordance with and abide by the City of Darwin’s Code of Conduct.Service deliveryEvent ManagementPlan, develop, facilitate, and evaluate a diverse range of City of Darwin initiated events and functions to promote a positive image of Council and Darwin.Develop and execute event management plans including but not limited to:Stakeholder engagementStaff allocationBudget planningContract managementVenue/facility bookingRisk ManagementWork Health and Safe proceduresCrowd SafetyProvide advice to both internal and external stakeholders regarding events and functions as required.Administer and oversee the contract management for Christmas Promotions and Bombing of Darwin Commemorative Service.Ensure events and functions are delivered within budget allocations and report on progress and variations to budgets.Provide reports to Council and the Bombing of Darwin and Military History Advisory Committee as required of proposed and completed events to evaluate and make recommendations in relation to event management and production.Liaise with the Marketing and Communications team for branding opportunities and social media support.Administration and LiaisonBuild internal capacity of City of Darwin’s staff for event management through development of resources, procedures, and delivery of staff training.Liaise and consult with Elected Members, Executive Leadership Team and Council employees at all levels to ensure assistance and cooperation in the production of the logistical and technical aspects of City of Darwin events and functions.Collaborate with a diverse group of government/non-government, community, business, media, and Australian Defence Force agencies and organisations to ensure commitment and contribution to events and functions.Maintain records management in accordance with established standards.Team support (people and capability)Work professionally, cooperatively and respectfully with other team members to accomplish joint tasks and build positive working relationships.Actively coordinate, lead and participate in team meetings and other relevant forums, events or organisational meetings as required.Proactively engage in performance management processes (ie. probation reviews and annual performance appraisals) as required.Undertake any other duties within the skill and scope of the position or your skill set, as directed.Workplace health and safetyEnsure your personal health and safety and that of others in the workplace, and report all accidents, incidents and hazards immediately via WHS systems.Comply with all CoD Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies, procedures, guidance and other-directed requirements.Comply with any reasonable directions (such as safe work procedures, wearing personal protective equipment) given by management for health and safety purposes.Report all accidents, incidents, near misses and hazards immediately.Position prerequisitesLevel 5 • Diploma/Advanced Diploma of Event Management or related field / or three (3) years equivalent experience.C Class Drivers Licence.Current NT Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card).Ability to obtain National Police Records Check.Possession of Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) or ability to obtain prior to employment.Level 2 and 3 Work Zone traffic management accreditation or ability to obtain.Level 6 • Bachelor of Business (Event Management) or related field or Diploma with five (5) years equivalent experience.C Class Drivers Licence.Current NT Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card).Ability to obtain National Police Records Check.Possession of Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) or ability to obtain prior to employment.Level 2 and 3 Work Zone traffic management accreditation or ability to obtain.
