About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Team Leader to guide and support our Aged Mental Health and Wellbeing (Aged MHWS) team. In this role, you will work closely with Consultant Psychiatrists to provide day-to-day leadership for a multidisciplinary team, including individuals with lived and living experience in mental health.
As Team Leader, you will use your strong leadership abilities and clinical expertise to ensure the Aged MHWS team is well-supported, trained, and resourced. Your focus will be on delivering high-quality, person-centred mental health care for older adults, with an emphasis on safety, recovery, and making a real difference in their lives.
The team is a regional team with clinicians based at multiple locations across the Grampians region; some travel across the Grampians region is required.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead daily operations of the Aged MHWS team, ensuring services meet clinical needs and KPIs.
* Monitor and improve team performance by implementing effective strategies.
* Foster a supportive work environment, encouraging professional growth and training opportunities.
* Conduct annual performance reviews, offering feedback and guidance for development.
* Address incidents and feedback, driving continuous improvement in service quality.
* Actively engage in governance meetings and collaborate with stakeholders to enhance mental health services across the region.
Skills & Experience
Essential
* AHPRA Registration, Nurse Division 1 with many years of relevant experience, or;
* Degree or Masters qualification in Social Work along with an Accredited Mental Health Social Work credential. Must be eligible for membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Mental Health, or;
* AHPRA Registration, Degree or Masters qualification in Occupational Therapy and a minimum or 10 years’ experience post qualification, or;
* AHPRA Registration, Masters qualification in Clinical psychology, Forensic psychology or Neuropsychology (unless employed in Area Mental Health Services as at 1/1/2011 and exempted from requiring Master’s degree); at least 10 years of experience, but no less than 8 years.
Desirable
* Post graduate qualifications in Mental Health
* Qualification and/or training in a management and/or leadership field

Up to $15,000 incentive payments may be available to support relocation (paid as a reimbursement for Bond and rent, travel costs, removalists, accommodation, visa application fees and more).
The Victorian Government has allocated funds to support rural and regional Area Mental Health Services (AMHS) to provide incentives to attract workers to roles that are difficult to fill.
The new workforce relocation and incentive grants program is being administered by Rural Agency Workforce Victoria (RWAV).
