Job Title: General Practitioner - ACCHS - Cherbourg, Queensland.
Job Type: Permanent – Full-Time.
Practice Information:
This Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled and managed organisation is controlled by community members through a locally elected Board. The organisation's objective is to address the comprehensive health and the social, emotional and cultural wellbeing needs of our local community in the Cherbourg and South Burnett regions in a holistic and culturally appropriate way. Client-centred care is at the heart of everything they do. The organisation provides a comprehensive and holistic primary health care service, operating practices in Cherbourg, Wondai and Kingaroy.
Key Duties:
o Provide excellent clinical care, in keeping with accepted best practice standards, and the organisation's model of care
o Provide skilled health assessment, diagnosis and treatment services to patients
o Perform and oversee the delivery of comprehensive preventive health assessments and prepare client care plans that comply with MBS standards, for clients across the age spectrum, and provide leadership for the multidisciplinary team in delivery of coordinated care planning for clients with complex chronic care needs
o Order diagnostic tests as needed and checking and informing patients of results in accordance with the practice’s procedure
o Maintaining professional knowledge and standards through continuing medical education and personal professional development
o Having a working knowledge of legislation and standards of general practice
o Maintaining a current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certificate at all times
o Practice medicine in a way that reflects the organisations values and mission
o Maintain trust and professional relationships with patients
o Provide services courteously and respectfully, with regard to the cultural beliefs and needs of patients
o Charge for consultations in accordance with the practice’s policy whilst optimising uptake and income generation across the service through MBS billings
o Prepare reports and legal summaries for government departments and other relevant agencies e.g. Work cover, Centrelink, etc. as required
o Complete required documents in an accurate, efficient and timely manner
o Provide leadership in the safety and quality of clinical services delivered by the health team.
Qualifications & Experience:
Key Requirements:
o Vocational registration as a medical practitioner with the
o Medical Board of Australia
o Current unrestricted APHRA registration
o Current medical indemnity insurance
o Clear National Police Check
o Eligibility for an unrestricted Medicare Care Provider Number
o Minimum of two (2) COVID vaccinations (green tick)
o Demonstrate commitment to ongoing professional development
o A background or awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and a commitment and willingness to working within a Community Controlled Aboriginal Medical Service
o Commitment to the philosophy and practice of Aboriginal Community Control
o Ability to effectively work within a diverse multi-disciplinary team which includes a range of non-clinical and clinical staff and community
o Experience with Chronic Disease Management
o Commitment to working within the principles of a Case
o Management framework
o Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across all ages, demographics, ethnicities and social groups
o Commitment to patient centric care, approaching service provision with genuine empathy and interest in patients’ needs
o Demonstrated ability to maintain absolute confidentiality regarding patient and practice information
o Demonstrate an ability to work cooperatively and independently, and the ability to prioritise and organise
Although not essential requirements, preference will be shown to applicants also able to offer any of the following:
o Current CPR and First Aid Certificates
o Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural competency training
o A knowledge of local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations.
After Hours Requirements: No
Salary Information:
o $280,000 - $300,000 per annum.
o Five weeks of annual leave.
o 12% superannuation.
