Full timeSalary from $113K; package up to $150K inc. superThe Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is looking to fill the role of Desktop Management Technical Lead in our End User Computing team.This is an ongoing, permanent position at the Executive Level 1 classification level.About the role We are seeking to engage an experienced and visionary Desktop Management Technical Lead, who is ready to provide technical leadership and strategic direction in the design, development and delivery of systems underpinning End User Computing's Desktop strategy and operations. The role also includes closely partnering with the Desktop Management Operations Lead to support improvements to operational practices and implement and build the forward work program.Responsibilities of this role include: Manage Citrix and Microsoft infrastructure underpinning the ABS' Virtual Desktop (called NextGen Desktop) and other services, including on-premises and cloud-based desktop images.Lead and implement critical technology changes pertaining to the NextGen Desktop (NGD) stack and other End User Computing (EUC) services.Carry out and/or lead specialist technical and/or engineering activities (including design and implementation of new systems and platforms).Provide technical expertise in Windows Desktop operating systems.Provide leadership in the delivery of program objectives and business outcomes, and as part of the leadership team, help to evolve the future culture of the ABS.Ensure EUC systems meet Government requirements outlined in the Information Security Manual (ISM) and Essential Eight, working cooperatively with the Cyber Security team to implement the appropriate security controls.Engage with internal colleagues at all levels and external stakeholders.Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors.Communicate and negotiate with influence to achieve agreed outcomes; establish and strengthen internal and external relationships.Manage competing priorities and deliverables.Support management using sound strategies and strong judgement to maintain a balanced work program for the technologies in your area of responsibility, including administration and budget planning and with consideration of the greater ABS business and surrounding Technology and Security Division's priorities.Mentor and coach team members in their work performance and career development, to build a high performing team culture with a focus on efficiency, innovation and delivery of business benefits and quantifiable business outcomes.You may also participate in an on-call roster to provide out-of-hours support and perform overtime as per operational requirements.What we are looking for (selection criteria) To be suitable you should have most or all of the following skills, qualities and experience:Experience with Cloud based infrastructure (Azure, AWS).Experience in managing hypervisors (Nutanix, VMware).Experience in administration and troubleshooting of modern versions of Citrix Virtual Applications and Desktops (CVAD), including Citrix DaaS.Experience in Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager.Experience in managing endpoints with Microsoft Intune.Ability to manage resource and business constraints by making key decisions, seeking input from stakeholders and/or actioning change to enable success.Ability to effectively demonstrate leadership, teamwork, problem solving, initiative and integrity.Commitment to exceptional customer service.Proven ability to stay updated on both emerging and established technologies, as well as industry trends.Tertiary accredited qualifications in a relevant ICT discipline or equivalent industry experience.How to apply To be eligible to apply, you must be an Australian citizen at the time of application.To apply, you will need to upload your current resume, provide referee details and respond to the following:Using the selection criteria in section 1 of the Applicant Information Kit as a guide, describe your skills and experience relevant to the role.
