About the role The School of Science and Technology has an opportunity for a Technical Assistant to join our small team of technical staff providing operational support for our core business of teaching and research. The principal responsibilities of the role are to support teaching and research and the management and maintenance of facilities and equipment in the Disciplines of Biomedical Science, Chemistry and Physics and Exercise and Sport Science. The role is embedded in a team where our values of Respect, Responsibility, Trust and Innovation underpin our collaborative working culture.. About you To be successful in this role, you will have:
Qualifications and skills that will be directly applicable in the support and facilitation of teaching and research in our Disciplines of: Biomedical Science, Chemistry and Physics and Exercise and Sport Science.A passion for scientific discovery and education, curiosity about new things and self-motivated initiative to understand and problem-solve around new tasks, new information and new objectives.The character and capability to take responsibility for operationally critical tasks.A technical skillset that is applicable in troubleshooting and problem solving across the scientific fields in our School.Demonstrated ability and willingness to work in a cooperative team where personal integrity and respect for others are requirements.Demonstrated work ethic, self-motivation and organisational skills where you proactively identify and prioritise day-to-day tasks and long term goals and where efficiency and task completion are always key objectives.About the Faculty The School of Science and Technology comprises the subject disciplines Biomedical Science, Chemistry and Physics, Exercise and Sport Science, Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science. The School conducts teaching and research through an exciting range of undergraduate, honours, and postgraduate courses and research degrees by dissertation within these disciplines. These courses are offered via on campus and flexible online education modes. Additionally, the research performance of a number of our disciplines was assessed at 'well above world standard' in the 2018 ERA ratings for research excellence.
